In the never-ending quest to get more junk to put in my house, I filled out a Nintendo survey about The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass, and will now receive a limited edition DS stylus. Yes, I am a slave to marketing-type people. Hey, as long as I get free video game-related stuff, I'll do whatever.
Great interview with some indie game developers on 1up.com. Jonathan Mak, in particular, has some insightful comments. Worth a read if you've ever thought about making a game.
During a search of the archives, I came across a .zip file documenting what we
all did before in-game recorded replays: wrote descriptions (or “stories,” if
you will) about our gaming exploits. This idea gained popularity due to Geoff
Frazier (Shlonglor), who made the whole of his old ‘Story’ page available at one
point. I’ve spent a few pleasant moments reveling in nostalgia due to reading
these, and a cursory Google search doesn’t turn them up anywhere else, so I
thought I might mirror the pages here. If reading these stories makes you want
to play Warcraft 2, send me an email and we’ll set something up =]
New interview with Smash Bros. Brawl developer by Satoru Iwata
The secret behind 'Programmed by NASIR'. I remember seeing that name (in the original Final Fantasy) and wondering if it was just a nickname (it seems that sometimes a developer will have a non-Japanese sounding nickname in the game credits) or a team of people. Turns out it's just one guy, who did some work on some cool games and then vanished. Check out the Wikipedia article on Nasir Gebelli for even more info on his past work.
