Ho ho ho, I finally update. This is for the people who, for some strange reason, still come to this page, in hopes of finding something new to read. Here’s the deal: I quit/was fired from my job, about 2.5 weeks prior to when I had planned to leave, so I have a lot of free time on my hands. This time will be spent:
- Making this site work again, and writing about some freakin' GAMES!
- Designing/developing nathandemick.com. I figure that the blog should go there, since it's more a personal thingsol.
- Redesigning hartfloors.com
- Buying a new computer. I think I'll start with a Shuttle XPC. I can't justify the expense of a Macintosh right now.
- Working on various other things, such as a project for my friend Phil, a captcha generator, and a financing program for my house.
Man, it feels good to be done with that job. The thing is, a job should have at least one of these four things:
- Satisfaction from the work (i.e. the work is fun or challenging)
- Satisfaction from co-workers (i.e. the people you work with are cool)
- Satisfaction from monetary compensation (i.e. you get PAID)
- Enables a particular lifestyle (i.e. flexible hours, lets you do something a normal job wouldn't allow)
Now, my job at Grip had none of these things, which means that there was
no point to me being there. I put in my notice last Friday after waiting
about a month; today my former employer sensed that I was not motivated at
all to finish the utter crap that he’d saddled me with, and told me to go
home. Let’s be honest, I could have asked to finish out the next two
weeks, but I just didn’t care enough.
So, what next? Well, I’m not unemployed right now, I’m “freelancing.” I
also have an interview at OSU next week, which I’m going to just for the
heck of it… I’m not sure if I want another office job at the moment.
Anyway, check back daily… there’ll be tons of new web content from yours
truly. I’m actually pretty excited; this could have been the kick in the
pants that I needed.
